Welcome to Stemnode!

Mission

To make research more collaborative by sharing scientific methods and common mistakes we have made in performing those methods. This will help build uniformity of methods and make the research community more efficient.

About

Stemnode was made by graduate students, for graduate students, so that we can help each other out. If we build on each other's work rather than repeat it then we can progress science faster, get knowledge outside the paywall...and maybe even graduate sooner. By recognizing authors, it also helps professors get recognition for what their labs are capable of and therefore helps potential partners and funders find them.

-Stemnode is two complimentary websites; Stemnode.org and wiki.stemnode.org .  Stemnode.org provides systems of systems diagrams to break down the complexity of science and technology.  Each node in Stemnode.org represents a system. Each node can also link to a page on wiki.stemnode.org.  In this way the nodes serve to reduce redundant content by setting the boundaries of what each review should cover.

-Stemnode was made by graduate students for graduate students to share and build on each other's literature reviews.  Graduate students in STEM in the United States alone produce literature reviews that exceed the size of English Wikipedia every two years (Citation).  Imagine if we combined our work and built on each other's work; we can progress science faster, get knowledge outside the paywall...and maybe graduate sooner.
-Stemnode.org diagrams are composed of three primary components; nodes, ports, and flows.  There are two types of nodes; circular nodes represent systems that convert inputs into outputs, and square nodes represent storage
