allrecipes.comA cash-strapped student has revealed how she managed to enjoy a long summer holiday in various destinations across Europe - by looking after other people's pets.

American student Soriah Abraham, 19, saved £3,000 living rent-free by volunteering to pet sit for people going on holiday - and says she ended up spending just £400 in two months.

omahasteaks.comThe student, who's originally from Salem, Oregon but moved to London in October 2022 to study fashion design at the University for the Creative Arts in Epsom, got the idea for pet-sitting travel after seeing others doing it online.

After joining a dedicated website, she started doing home sits around London to build up her reviews - meaning she would be able to easily secure sits abroad over her summer break.

The cat's out of the bag on free travel: Soriah, who's a student in Epsom, Surrey, says she only spent £400 in two months thanks to the pet-sitting jobs

When she finished in June, she celebrated ending her first year of university with a two-month adventure in Germany, Switzerland and Amsterdam.

Not only did she experience three countries in one trip, she also only spent just £400 over the duration of it - on food, travel and the occasional hotel, estimating it would have cost her around £3,400 without her pet sitting jobs.

Soriah said: 'I have two cats back home and I missed them. I wanted to build up my reviews before I went for the crucial ones in the summer. I spent about £400 for food, and the occasional hotel.'

Soriah did her first house sit in November 2022 and built up her reviews looking after people's pets while they were away.
